Nuclear Ironies and Webcam Update

Beginning in 1981, the central government provided grants to residents in Fukushima Prefecture, presumably to live near the Fukushima Daiichi and Daini nuclear power plants.[i]

In January 2014 the central government discontinued funding after TEPCO decided to “decommission” all the reactors at the plant.

Fukushima Prefecture government took over funding in 2014 but will exhaust leftover cash in 2017. The prefecture is now deciding whether to halt the subsidies altogether or find another funding source.

Is it not ironic that money comes from the central government until a disaster strikes, after which the money is halted?

Daiichi Update

I've not seen anything unusual on the webcams so the power outage doesn't seem to have affected cooling in surface arenas.

Perhaps the outage affected water capture and filtration rather than cooling.

Fukushima Diary recently reported that a water storage tank leaked some highly radioactive water (which probably occurs more than reported):
7 million Bq of all β nuclides leaked as contaminated water in Fukushima plant. Fukushima Diary, http://fukushima-diary.com/2016/06/7-million-bq-of-all-%ce%b2-nuclides-leaked-as-contaminated-water-in-fukushima-plant/

According to Tepco, highly contaminated water leaked from a water storage tank on 6/26/2016. All β nuclides density is reportedly 96,000,000 Bq/m3. Cs-134/137 density is also 700,000 Bq/m3.
It is hard to know what is going on at the plant as news coverage has become more sparse.

  1. How long till there enough ofvthe more acututely toxic radionucleides in the environment like cesium 137, and strontium 90, and cobalt 60 to start causeing mass cancers and heart defects? The life support system on this planet is within a hair's breadth of being poisoned irreparably by the the most acutely toxins known. The equivalent of ten thousand nuclear bombs  of radionucleides were expelled into the environment when Fukushima went through a prompt criticality, 3 China syndromes, and 2 hydrogen explosions.

There were already enough radioisotopes in Chernobyl and from nuclear waste in nuclear countries. Now concentrations of radionuclide's have like cesium 137 and strontium 90 are reaching critical levels as they have in Belarus. 85 percent of the children in Belarus have heart defects. Dr Miller  and Dr Bandhazevsky measured 10 bq/kg in the tissues of children in Belarus. They measured 40bq/kg in the averaged soil samples.  Possibly more than 3 reactors melted down in Japan at the time of the 9.0 quake that ruined Fukushima. tepco has finally admitted covering up the three Fukushima meltdowns at Fukushima.

Fukushima expelled more fuel and radionucleides into the environment than a hundred Chernobyl's. I have 2 dear friends who died of cancer, in Tokyo, at young ages, this year. The fake census in Japan last year does not account for a million less people in Japan from other demographics. The pacific is dying.

  2. If we knew for a fact that most governments and most corporations of any note were run by persons having all the traits we rightly associate with crooks and gangsters, then none of the things that happen would be the least surprising but rather the things expected. But it is hard to believe what is almost certainly the case. I at least can think of no other explanation. In a society where people get arrested for not returning public library books, the Clinton's left the WH with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of WH property. When caught they made some kind of deal, but it looks like they came out way ahead. They were certainly not arrested; and I am sure Hilary had a dozen excuses and rationalizations. You are either in the charmed circle or you are not, and whether one is a crook or not depends on where you stand. The prize for becoming an important person is to be generally immune from nasty impositions like arrests and indictments.
