Article: "Us Military Finds Lessons in Japan's Crisis"
"According to Marines, it took 1,200 man hours to contaminate one 'hot' CH-46 helicopter that had contact with radioactive debris. All told, it took a month to decontaminate all the Okinawa-based aircraft" p. A10

Article: "China Floods Claim Victims, Crops"
China is experiencing massive flooding. Here is a summary of the effects: "In addition to the 175 known deaths, 86 people are missing and 1.6 million people have been displaced by the flooding, which has caused more than $5 billion in damages as of Monday... The flooding has reduced vegetable output by about 20% from levels a year earlier in the worst-hit areas..." (p. A10)

Article: "A Plan to Fight Food Shortages"
This article address rampent speculation in food in this relevant excerpt: "Total managed-money investments in agriculture grew to a record $126 billion in the year ended in March, more than double the $55 billion invested in the 2008 commodities boom, according to Barclays Capital data."

"'The people who are the beneficiaries of this situation are not the farmers, they are the middlemen,' said Charles Ogang, president of the Ugandan National Farmers Federation"
